My, how time flies!

Eighteen years seems like a very long time. Especially if you are younger than 20, but on this day in 1991 Curtis and I were married. I don't recall much of what was happening in the world around then, I just know I was done with my college classes for the semester and was hoping it wouldn't be too hot! Being married in Phoenix can be a wilting experience!

Luckily we were wed earlier in the day, I think we had a 9 a.m. time at the AZ Mesa temple. That is all a blur, but I remember Curtis was really pale, almost green and confided just before we went in that he felt like he was going to throw up! LOL, how nice is that? I told him he wasn't allowed.

The day was warm but not bad, and most of that day was a blur of people, and hoping my dress looked okay or the pictures turned out. I had tons of relatives and friends around, and my cheeks hurt for smiling. We were married on a Friday, and had a reception that night, and one the next day up in Saint Johns. What a busy weekend, dang I'm glad my parents were up to it!

I thought I should post a picture or two but I had to scan them and fix them because my scanner squished them, but hopefully now they look close. Definitely styles have changed, but I still rather like my princess dress. We also didn’t have a cell phone, and our first computer as a couple was pathetic and came with a REALLY noisy dot-matrix printer. (I know this because of the many reports that were printed when one of us were attempting to sleep!) We didn't even know what the internet was. There was no blogging, and we were lucky if we had basic cable.

We lived our first three months in Saint Johns, AZ, at my brother in law/sis-in law's house, and their two adorable little kids. Brock was a 2 year old and darling, and Kelli was just a cute baby, crawling all around getting into cupboards, and here she graduates this week!

It doesn't seem like 18 years. But it is! It has been full of joy and some stresses, trials and worries. It has brought me delight with the ever growing love I have for Curtis and a lot of learning with three fabulous kids, and many church callings and a variety of experiences.

We spent this weekend together, and it was wonderful, if not full of some exotic locale. We took Friday and drove up to the cabin together and did some summer prep up there. I can't express how blessed I feel to have the opportunity to enjoy the mountains. I just feel the majesty of our world up there, and pretty much nowhere else makes me feel that way.

Then we farmed our kids out and enjoyed a free night at the Denver Inverness Hotel, a gift we'd got received at Christmas. Nice dinner, which was also free, at the Baca…and we ate carbs! YUM! Mostly we spent time together, talking and enjoying each other's company as we shopped for stuff we need for Trek. I know, boring but it was fun just to be hanging together with no rush.

Today is the 'actual' day, and I know I have a load to do. Laundry that never ends, cleaning that never seems to be done, the amazing amount of activities I have to be involved in because of my kids and school ending and summer coming etc. But it's what I love. As dirty and cluttered and unpaid and seemingly unrewarding as many of the things of my life are, I couldn't ask for better. My life is so blessed.
