I love a good book!

Just a quick book review and recommendation. I just finished Science Fair by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, the authors of the Peter and the Starcatchers books, and I LOVED it! It is hilarious and just plain fun to read. It isn't deep or mature by any means, being that it is aimed at kids, but it was nothing but a pleasure! And really, it may be aimed at tweens but it can fully be enjoyed by adults, especially if you've lived past 13 and Middle School!

I listened to this on audio, which may have contributed to the hilarity because the reader did a great job, but if you've ever listened to/read anything by Dave Barry, you know that he's very funny and this was no exception. I had numerous times where here I am, wrapping Christmas presents or folding socks with my mp3 player earbuds in and I would just GUFFAW loudly or burst out laughing. My kids kept wondering what on earth I was doing.

It's a brand new book, it came out in Oct 2008, but if you ever do get a chance to see it and want an amusing read, or need to give a gift to a nephew/niece or son or daughter between the ages of oh...8-15, or have anyone else you know who loves funny fiction, this would be a great gift. You can also download the mp3 version to listen to on audio for free though at least one of my local libraries: http://www.arapahoelibraries.org/ but it could be available through others as well.

Joel is getting this for Christmas and I'm reading it to all the kids asap! It's fantastic! I'm SO happy Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson jumped into the kid book genre! It's so nice to have a story that is fast paced, amusing, free of swearing and sex, and blessedly free of hovering overtones of gloom. This is just pure fun! Anyway, carry on. I just had to share! :)
