Global Warming? I think not.

Oh...the weather outside is frightful! And the kids are all delightful... yup, let it snow!

We've already had a few snowstorms in Sept/Oct but we're right in the middle of a right nasty 'swirly smash'. I like to call them that because when a low pressure system parks itself just right all this moisture comes up from the south, hits a cold front from the North, the winds end up sort of from the east in a big, swirling, messy, sloppy, wet snowstorm that can't quite back out of Denver because there are mountains in the way. These usually hit in the spring but here it is October and we're getting a lovely full on blast.

The laden bushes in my front yard.

Woke up to about 4 or 5 inches, had to struggle to get the kids to school despite the fact that ALL the other school districts in the area canceled. Curtis and I were heading to the Denver temple and then we find out at about noon that the schools are sending kids home! HS kids got out at 12:30, Middle School at 1:30 and Elementary regular times because it took so long to get the bus routes around. The snow kept falling and by late this afternoon we had at least a foot out there.

It's still falling, and supposed to continue through tomorrow afternoon...school is closed tomorrow, the kids are rejoicing. Actually they're asleep, having worn themselves out with snow play all afternoon!

The kids playing on the snow laden tramp.

Joel and Josh were so excited about this storm. They got out their snowshoes and went on a "snowshoe adventure", walking with their poles to the grassy areas that are deep snow. They also shoveled and built sled ramps. I got my workout shoveling too as this is very springlike, wet snow. Now every vent in my house has a pair of boots or gloves on top so it can dry out over night!

Thank goodness we lost all those leaves! The branches are strained as it is!

Can't believe Halloween hasn't happened yet and we have this much snow though. I bought WAY too much candy. Hope someone eats all the good stuff first so I can't. :)
